Dash-top covers work harder than door panels because they lie flat under the windscreen and take direct sunlight for most of the day.

Heat is what kills them

Under glass, a dash top can run far hotter than the cabin around it. Over years that heat softens the moulding, lifts the clip legs and can leave the panel bowed so it no longer lies flat, which is why a dash grille often rattles at idle even when nothing is visibly broken.

Specification

Dashboard speaker position

Black, low-sheen finish to limit windscreen glare

Polycarbonate and ABS moulding

Original clip pattern for a direct change

Fitting

Lift the old panel with a taped trim tool from the edge nearest the screen.
